This NBA basketball team began working with MuscleSound® technology in 2014. They specifically were interested in optimizing performance and reducing injury recovery time so players could return to play quicker. The team spent 62% less on salaries paid to injured players than the average NBA team in the 2013-2014 season. MuscleSound® has helped guide the training staff to make informed decisions not only on appropriate peak performance strategies, but also has provided guidance on performance strategies and when injury did occur, to ensure healthy return to play strategies. The following is an example case study prepared for one of their players in 2014.

Background: This particular player strained his right hamstring during a game on 2/7. He was scanned post-game as part of treatment protocols and over the next couple of days received treatment and was monitored closely.

MuscleSound Intervention: As you can see in the chart below, MuscleSound scanned this player post-game and over the next couple of days. Testing was done on both legs to allow for analysis on possible biomechanical variances due to overcompensation. He was monitored closely and received treatment each day in accordance to his MuscleSound Energy Status.

Result: MuscleSound was the key tool used to adjust and tailor the daily rehab regiment. Immediate adjustments could be made to the daily program based on real-time measured variances. MuscleSound ensured proper rehab intensity levels and speed to which the return to play program was completed. His pre-game scores showed that he was, in fact, recovered and ready to return to play during the game on 2/9. The scores to the right illustrate his post-game values, a significant increase from the previous measurement, further confirmation that he was in fact recovered.
